YouTube, eh…

Working on the next part now, but before I could get much further, I found something quite irritating.

Since it’s irritating, I may as well get it out again.

Please do not make subtitled YouTube videos using my Lucky Dog 1 translations.  Because tennenouji has graciously granted me permission to basically raid their game, the least I can do is uphold my part of the agreement.

Any YouTube videos who use my translation will receive a warning, and if I don’t receive a response or the video doesn’t get taken down by two weeks, I will flag the video.

I feel awful about being so harsh, but I feel such steps are necessary.  I’m tempted to pause my work on the blog, even, but that would be unfair to everyone else (especially given where I stopped at).

…I think what bums me out the most is that this person tried to pass the translation off as hers.  Sigh.

Thank you for being understanding.

edit:  To turn the mood straight around, Gian made the rating for top 3 BL chara!  XD  Giulio brings up 8th and Bernardo 10th.  (Pretty sure no one’s looking, but Shou is #1 in otome rankings, with Tokiya at #2, and Masato at #10, and UtaPrince All Stars is the top anticipated game \o/ )

edit #2: Happy Chinese New Year’s!  ’tis the year of the Snake!

    Aw that’s lame especially since one tried to pass it off as their translation. :I You work so hard in giving us such great translations, we should respect your wishes.

    And plus, It would be to see someone else piss off tennenouji and ruin things for the rest of us…

      Thanks for the consideration, though I’ll try to give the person ample time to do it on his/her own. If that doesn’t work, I can always flag it myself since I can go straight to the OHKO flag (copyright) XD

    -Sigh- That’s unfortunate, I think it would be understandable if you didn’t have the info about using your translations IN BIG BOLD TEXT. But passing it off as her own is even worse. :T

    Hopefully the videos get taken down without any issues, I really love your translations and others do to so it would suck if you had to stop or postpone them because of this. ;-;

      *crosses fingers too*

      It would be best if there was no forceful flagging and such, but the last person who did this ignored the mail I sent, and I feel like this person might, too. I sort of understand why she sort of passed it off as her own (if she’d put my name on the video, someone would’ve googled and connected that that wasn’t hers … or even worse, if I googled my name and I found it…), but that still doesn’t mean I like it ._.

      Thanks for the support!

    Jesus christ that’s awful :\ I’m sorry to hear someone’s been disregarding your/Tenneouji’s regulations and trying to steal your translations. I think it’s wonderful you’ve made your translations public and have put so much work into allowing English-speakers to enjoy this game, and it’s uncool when people disrespect that.

    Admittedly, I’ve had to start locking my own translations (for manga and other things) to a small circle of friends because I got tired of people taking my translations and using them in uncool ways, but I’m always sad that I can’t share my stuff with more people, because I do /want/ more people to enjoy fandoms they might not normally be able to get into because of the language barrier. (Provided they also support the creator, as would be fair.)

    I admire your willingness to keep translating despite a few bad eggs, though, and support whatever course of action you choose to take (‘-‘)d Hopefully they’ll get the hint and take down their videos before flagging becomes necessary. Seeing your updates as always made my day for the past year+ I’ve been following them so it’d be a shame to lose them because of this youtuber.

      Hah … bad eggs… *shot*

      I mean, uh, thanks for the support ^^ I’ve wondered sometimes why people don’t do more, but I suppose I didn’t really need to wonder. This is the internet. If it can be done, it will probably be done. I just hadn’t really thought I would have to deal with it (although admittedly, this is the second time this has happened).

      You translated manga? Which? =3

        Yeah, it’s a bit hard for me to wrap my head around, like — why steal? But I guess a lot of people do it just because they can, and so they can be praised (and feel clever for not being caught, I suppose — until someone catches them). But most of the people do do that don’t realize how damaging such behavior is, I’ve found, which baffles me to no end.

        Re: which manga I’ve translated — I can hardly remember all of them since I used to translate a lot (~2009 I think, admittedly my Japanese wasn’t very good back then but it was good practice) and usually for smaller fandoms, but I remember doing Pandora Hearts, Are you Alice?, 07-GHOST and Nightmare Inspector: Yumekui Kenbun . . . Though, for PH, I was translating before it got popular so people were pretty desperate to be big name translators, hence translation theft ( ._.) Fortunately the fandom got larger and more translators/scanlators appeared, so that sort of thing stopped happening afaik.

        After 2009/2010 I don’t think I made any translation releases, but recently I got into Hatoful Boyfriend so I’ve been (slowly…) translating the side manga/anthology and some guidebook info.

          Ah, Are you Alice? … I actually have the drama cd for that, as well as the PSP game … though I haven’t heard good things about the latter ^^;;;

          I’m still keeping up with Pandora Hearts, though tbh, the characters … bother me half the time. I do want to stick through to see what happens in the end, though.

          Hatoful? The pigeon game??! How is that??? XD I heard there’s a sequel or fandisk for it coming out??

        Oops, sorry this is so late! I got busy and forgot to turn on notifs ;;

        Yeah, I actually was about to get the psp game but all my friends told me it wasn’t good at all… which was a shame, since I was kind of excited to see a vn adaptation of a series I’m into. (Though, I’m not as crazy about it as I used to be — the story is so confusing! I still enjoy it, but if the novels, drama CDs, nor manga can make a story easier to follow, the story is probably lacking somewhere…)

        I’m kind of the same with PH, though. I’m not really invested in the characters anymore so I’m sort of just sticking around ’til the end.

        As for Hatoful, I know it’s not everyone’s thing but for me it’s a fun, innovative game that uses its seemingly silly premise to its advantage and relates a strong story with enjoyable characters. Neither the game not is fan disc are too long, either, so it doesn’t eat up a ton of your time trying to get into it. (The fan disc came out in English late December, so it hasn’t been out too long.)

        Personally, I love the characters in Hatoful — there’s quite a bit about them to explore, so I admire the writer for being able to make a game about pigeons an actual story with a developed cast and plot. The game doesn’t always take itself too seriously, though, and if nothing else the narration of the heroine is always tons of fun to read.

    What the heck! That’s horrible! All the hard work you put into these great translations, and someone steals it without crediting. I really hope this doesn’t get bad enough for Tennenouji to retract their permission from you, especially after all your efforts so far. Seriously, I too suggest you post that video link and let us all flag it to oblivion. >.<

    Your Lucky Dog translations are brilliant and even though I've only discovered them recently (unlike some of the very dedicated people I see above) I know each update will make my day for a long time to come (since you have not only Giulio's but Bernardo and Luchino's routes to complete!). I really, really hope that you won't feel the need to postpone or worse, stop altogether, because of idiots like this youtuber. It would be such a shame if you ended up having to deprive the non-Japanese-fluent world of a thorough understanding of one of the best BL games ever. =(

    We're all supporting you here! And it's great that Gian made the best 3~~ ^^ honestly I think he should be number 1, I mean, he's like the only BL game hero who has a real personality. All that snark! -huggles Gian- But maybe it's just because Lucky Dog isn't as widely played as the Nitro+Chiral games so nobody votes for him. Sigh. =/

      Ah … speaking of Nitro+Chiral, Akira from Togainu no Chi took #1, Shiki took #2, and Rin and Gunji also place somewhere in the top 10. Aoba from Dramatical Murder is also up there ^^;

      The only players that aren’t from Lucky Dog or Togainu no Chi or DRAMAtical Murder are Ichinose from Hadaka Shitsuji (#4) and a … Nakajima(?) from Gakuen Heaven (#7).

      …I’m seeing a really strong pattern as to who places top… The only exception is Gian himself.

    OH MY GOODNESS!!! How irritating! Not just to disrespect your wishes but to also try and pass it off as their own!?!? So not cool! You work so hard to share your hard work with everyone and then bad apples like them come in to dampen everything. I really hope that they take it down! I really appreciate all the hard work that you put into bringing these translation to everyone. Especially when you have to deal with real world problems and stuff. Most people who do translation are not as consistent and good at replying back to others, so please don’t ever think I’m not thankful.
    I also want you to know that if you do decide to pause the blog I will fully support your decision to do so! This is all your hard work and I don’t want you to get into trouble with Tennenouji. I guess what I’m trying to get at is that even though I love the game and the translations, it is all your hard work and effort that made it all happen and you have the final say. I know that whatever you decide you would have given it a lot of thought and consideration.
    Ok aside from all seriousness YAY!!!! GIAN IN TOP 3 BABY!!! Totally deserves it since he is the coolest character in the game! XD Giulio being 8th didn’t surprise me since he is the most totally adorable yandere character I have ever come across. To be honest though Bernardo being 10th raised my eyebrows somewhat. Personally I love Bernardo, even more than Giulio and Ivan. (sorry guys) But on the internet you don’t really see him getting much love so hence the surprise. But I’m glad he got tenth because Koji Yusa FTW! His voice turns me into a puddle on the floor all the time! SO HOT! XD But what surprised me was that Ivan wasn’t on the list? I mean I know he is annoying in the beginning but come on! He gets sooo cute later on!
    Off topic on everything else but I wanted to know if you ever thought of tranlating the drama cd’s? I managed to get a couple and I thought I would get a nose bleed from a cd! (embarrassed) To be honest this is my first time listening to a drama cd and I could get hooked. 😉
    I hope the real world isn’t giving you too much drama and you are enjoying yourself! Keep your chin up and your nose clean!
    Sorry the post was so long. -_-;

          Oh yes, my feelings exactly. I love his Starry Sky route to bits~ XD and dammit he is so very awesome as Ichimaru Gin! What I was really disappointed with was he played a really weird character in Arcana Famiglia anime and they made him speak in this strange deep voice which totally didn’t suit him. The moment I realized that was him I dropped the show because I couldn’t bear to hear him cast in such a terrible way. =/

            I was surprised at how he played Jolly… It was very … odd. And very unnatural, even for such a strange character as Jolly, so… Wut ><

            Granted, I may like AF, but I think it's flawed in many ways (the game, not the anime. I haven't seen the anime at all).

            I had no idea he was Ichimaru, but for some strange reason, I am absolutely not surprised. ._.

              Weird as Jolly was, I think it might have been okay if Yusa-san played the role in his normal voice. It would have suited the dark(?)/mysterious/disconnected character better, and would probably have made him a lot more likeable – drawing in seiyuu fans like myself and allycat! ^^

              As great as the art and the voice cast for AF was, I had to drop it. Liberta and Nova (and the girl) felt like they were kids trying to be adults too fast and the adults felt like they were adults trying to kids again. And then the ultimate disappointment in Yusa-san’s casting as Jolly. >.< Well, I'm judging on the basis of about 3 eps worth of anime, so things could be very different in the game…. =_=

              AF sort-of-rant aside, I can't wait to play Bernardo's route! Unlike Giulio, he talks a lot, so there will be plenty of ear candy~~ XD

                I didn’t pay much attention to the ages, tbh. The series is partially comedy, so everyone is bound to be acting not their age XD

                The main problem I had with AF was that some of the conflicts weren’t tied up as neatly as I’d hoped. As for the anime … well, the game was originally pretty focused on character events. In other words, events that have nothing to do with the plot. In other words, they have plenty of filler material for the anime and it will be very obvious it’s filler >3

        YOU WERE RIGHT!! I just watched a couple episodes of Arcana Famiglia anime and OMG he sounded so….not the sexy seiyuu I’m used to ;_; it kinda hurt my ears. I was really bummed because I kinda like the ero-jiji characters and Jollys character was definitely to my liking. But the way they had him talking was not a sexy ero-jiji.(sigh) But never fear Kouji Yusa! I will always be your fan! Providing you keep supplying my fangirl heart with “ear candy”.(ceru-chan) And as for Ichimaru Gin FTW!
