Guilio’s route seems… cuter, I think. I get the feeling it’ll have more fluffy moments compared to Ivan’s. Though I bet the creepiness level is also going to be up. Guilio seems to have a sweet demeanor (towards Gian), but his mental state is just messed up.

lol, I only found out about Lucky Dog 1 because someone started translating the manga (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=62843) ! So Part 1 is already ruined for me regardless x’D. When I found out it was based off a game, I thought, “Oh, how interesting” and from what I’ve read (reviews and doujins), it does seem interesting. I won’t let a little spoiler put me off ;D
Question: I know that you have reached an agreement with Tennenouji in regards to translating Lucky Dog 1. Once you have completely translated, do you think they’ll consider having an English version? Recently, I’ve seen an increase of visual novels with Japanese, English (and sometimes Korean) versions. I would LOVE to buy LD1, but considering it’ll be $30 USD+, I kinda wish it would be in a language I understand Q___Q. Aaaand…do you know where I can buy LD1?

As for the question about an English LD …
I haven’t really thought about it, to be honest. I’ll ask them, but I (of course) can’t say anything about what they might or might not decide since I have no other products by them to go by that were translated. Hey there terracannon! Ah, still keeping college studen’ts from their studies, I see.haha, now I have to find some time to play Guilio’s route.
It’s koinz, the person u brifely talked with who was attempting translation for Lamento. I’ve been so busy with Lamento and work, and then college started again, so I’m pleasantly surprised to see your progress when I finally checked back. Great job with the translation, I always admire it in comparison to my own “straight out of the dictionary” style lol.
And guess what, after translating every night for august and part of september, I finally finished the entire first draft for Asato’s route. Man, that was long (but fun). But now it’s a question of what to do.I was thinking of contacting the original translator, when I finish a presentable second draft. But I’ve always remember what you told me, about the game company that may not like a patch released (If I could get this going with the original translator, Lamento’s currently small %15 patch would turn into around %60 done!). I have reasons to believe the original translator has contacted Nitro Chiral in some way, but it’s definitely something I want to inquire about first. There was also the togainu no chi patch we discussed, which is almost comlete, but has never been interrupted. (but you never know). With Lamento’s length, a screenshot/word by word website may be very hard for me (and I am not sure about having time to actually maintain it for this hectic year) , but I also still haven’t even found a method/guide for making a patch-looks like I would have to contact the original translator/hacker of Lamento for this.
You could probably make a hell of a website for Lamento with those moving images you once mentioned- if you ever still thinking of doing that one day when you’re finished with Lucky Dog, I wouldn’t mind if you used my translation. (there is a bit of a problem, though, since someone else translated the first %15 and I did %15-%60- I would never use their work without permission, so I wonder how I could work that out).
Well, I can say for certainty that I will try going the patch route first.

Thank you for leaving open the option for me of continuing to do Lamento (that may’ve come out worded weird). I haven’t yet decided what to do about it, nor whether I’ll do it in the first step since there are other games/projects I’ll have to think about, too (and schoolwork and work, of course!). When the time comes, I’ll probably try to figure out which project to do, but right now… LD is looking like it’ll take at least a year more, so we’ll see how much progress has been made on Lamento, too! Also, I think you may already know this, but I like to translate stuff because … I like to, so I may just go with my own translations, too ^^;; Sounds selfish, I know >< So there's also that possibility…
On a side note, the TnC patch is already out, from what I hear. Go forth and enjoy Togainu in English!! XD

Yeah, Lamento’s pretty long (don’t want to seem like I’m complaining about it’s length, I actually like it-translator masochism!!) with each character route about 800 pages (Rai’s is almost 1000!), so I guess if you were to use my translation, it would be for the descriptive setting parts or something? Haha, I dunno, but I understand what you mean, It’s not selfish! And yeah, there’s a lot of other untranslated things waiting as well!
Ugh, I know what you mean about work/school- the end of Lamento ran into the beginning of school, and something I could have finished in a few days took three weeks!

That being said, I will admit that while LD is much more … quirky? writing, Lamento has MUCH more novel-like writing. Very descriptive, florid, pretty writing… Kind of like a fairy tale…

“Strange” doesn’t begin to cover it … and yet is right in far more ways than one. As for your package comment … I laughed so hard at that … because I’m waiting for a package this very moment!! I hope it arrives this week or the next… It has so many artbooks in it (some LD)!! 8D That would indeed be a nice surprise~
I hope you enjoy TnC! I haven’t played it in forever, but it was the … second? game that got me into the BL genre, and really cemented my love for it with its excellent story and characters. And I really found Akira pretty. That helped, too. (Ironically, though, I didn’t really have a favorite pairing per se. I think I liked Shiki’s, but that was mostly by default of not being huge fans of the others’…)

Lamento is really nice, like a fairy tale. I like it’s style, as not one detail is left unnoticed. At times while reading the script, I would be hit with walls of seemingly neverending text, but it is nice to translate.
Yeah, Lamento’s writing is like a storybook. You know, ever since translating Lamento, I can also understand Sweet Pool pretty well, too. Sweet Pool was something I vowed I wouldn’t play until I could read it without as much help from a dictionary. The writing for both is kindov similar, and more straightforward without many colloquialisms. But something like Drammatical Murder…hmmm, I won’t say I don’t understand it at all, but the dialogue is much more informal? Slang? Not slang, but a little farther from standard Japanese? I can’t seem to find the phrase I’m looking for, but anyway, I can’t understand the dialogue sometimes. I can have a hard time understanding sometimes.
Wow, I kindov feel like an idiot- I thought you just translated part 2- I forgot to click on the “best route” picture, oh,my, there’s even more! Oh my, that airmail package turned into two packages!!! Btw, that picture is really beautiful (Gian kissing Guilio. So is the Ivan one)
Haha, TNC was my first BL game that really got me into the genre! And I know what you mean about quality story and characters- some games, the charcters are predictable or done before, and the story sucks. What I like about Akira and Konoe, particularly Akira, is how they can actually fight. Akira’s pretty damn awesome. You know, I think normally characters like Keisuke would be my favorite, but I actually like the pairing with Rin the best. I normally don’t like “chirpy, puppy” characters like that (well, that puppy turned into some deranged pitbull) but I really liked him for some reason. But I haven’t played Shiki’s yet all the way.

Koinz….you actually did a complete english translation of Asato’s route in Lamento? I had gotten a hold of the 15% patch, played up to that point and stopped. But the moment I saw Asato and heard him speak…I absolutely fell in love with him. And I HATE catboys. Lamento has changed that and now I’m losing sleep over how these….Ribika, cats, whatever, have sex! What do I have to do to get a copy of your translation? Are you sharing it? Do you want a dollar amount for it?!

Whoops, sorry, would have liked to have responded to you earlier. I only check back here weekly. Well, if you do read this, yes I have translated the entire Asato route! Right now, I’m playing through the game and filling in some scenes (when the game was hacked, some lines of text aren’t visible in the script at certain scene changes and I have to play the game through and type those extra lines in), which i should be done with by the end of this week. Almost near the end, jist played through the bad ending…jeez! That was…nevermind. And then I’ll revise a few more parts of the script before I contact the original translator (crimson Okami) by the end of next week. If all goes well and they have time to hack the game and insert the text, then Asato’s route will atleast be a great Christmas Present to everyone!
So, no, I won’t be selling my translation (my broke college student senses twitched a little though, but i don’t want money for it lol ), but I do want to share it! It’s amazing how much support Lamento still has six years later!

My favorite? I really treasure all of them, but I’ll have to admit that I like Gian the most. It’s Gian that holds the group together and he also holds the group together for me (in that I probably wouldn’t be as interested in them if it weren’t for him).
As for why … now that’s the hard question… A big part of it is that Gian “sails” with everything that comes his way, a big part of which is the fact that he’s uke in all the relationships. And he’s not girly. No whining, no angsting, etc. He accepts it, he deals with it, and he flourishes for it. If he angsts, he has a darn good reason for doing so. I think this is what sets him apart from other straightforward protagonists that I like because they’re active and funny and positive overall. He’s all of those, and he’s super flawed, but he’s also … refreshing, in a way. Also, he’s pretty.
On a side note, Dark!Gian is doubly pretty, but his personality freaks me out, from what I can assume he acts like. Oh well, I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

Yay for Gian! When I watched the first NSFW scene, the one where Gian got gang raped, I remember saying to myself, “wow, he’s taking it like a champ.” Not many ukes can go through rape without whining and crying which can ruin the moment for me because they remind me of bitches. But Gian is a real man!! The BEST uke ever! We need more like him. I’m so sick of the stereo typical punk ass bottom boys. Gian was even a good sport when Ivan made him suck his cock. 🙂

Follow the Route for “bad end route”. On Giulio’s menu it should have a picture of Giulio slicing up some people. Follow the choices that are made there and you should get bad ending 01.
Alternatively, click on “Lucky Dog walkthrough” on the sidebar to the right, start RIGHT after you start Giulio part 3, and follow the instructions on the walkthrough after “load save file 08”. Let me know if you have anymore trouble.

I really wish they added a second happy end and developed his story a bit more 😦 To me it felt like Giulio was just an afterthought. IMHO his story needed to be fleshed out a bit more; he’s such a fragile, complex character – so many subtilities

I can assure you none of the characters were an afterthought. As for Giulio’s story… Let’s just put it this way. He has the MOST pages in his SS (short stories) out of all the characters. Where the others have 50, he has 100 pages. Where the others have 130 pages, he has 220. It. Is. Insane. (You can see that I’ve already had my share of “Oh nooooooo” moments regarding this.)
I think his route was rather fleshed out. Why do you say it’s not? Or is it because you want to see more of him =PPP

I can’t really explain it, it just felt like he was just kind of smooshed together. They did a good job on expressing his complex character; but his story just didn’t seem ‘complete’ to me.
Ok I am the worst at explaining!! I don’t know if that made sense.
I haven’t read any of the SS’s!! I’m going to have to check them out 🙂

I was playing Lucky Dog 1 today, and Luchino said split the smokes into 4…
I know Luchino, Ivan, and Gian all smoke. (Including Berny!)
But does Giulio smoke?
