Iroha Poem

Composition: 銀サク (GinSaku)
Lyrics: 銀サク (GinSaku)
Editing: 銀サク (GinSaku)
Song:
Song: Kagamine Rin

Note: This song uses what I can only assume is olden Japanese, so ヤ = yo, セ = sho, ヒ = i, ホ = o. If it’s not ancient Japanese (which I’ve never studied), then the source I got the lyrics from did something really weird.

The poem’s pronunciation and translations are based off the Wikipedia entry for the Iroha.  The Iroha Poem is a Buddhist poem from the Heian period (794-1179AD) that is attributed with coming up with the A-I-U-E-O syllable order in Japanese.

Iroha Poem

If you so wish,
I shall be as obedient as a dog.
Why don’t you bind me
With string, with rope, with chains?

Or perhaps,
I shall please you,
Charming as a kitten,
With fingers, with feet, with lips?

Which one of us will drown first?
Who cares about that?

All colors fade to scent, scattering to the wind.
You will find no one in our world who think it strange.
I wish to know more about you, until you are deeper, deeper within me.

Today we shall cross the mountains of materialistic desires,
And we shall not see superficial dreams, nor be deluded.
Stain me in your essence.
All colors fade to scent, scattering to the wind.

If you tell me to bloom in the winter
Like the camellia,
Then I shall live on,
Exposing myself open to the snow, to the frost.

Or perhaps you wish to witness
The moment a sublime rose withers into petals.
Then I shall pass away,
My neck, my hair shrouded in fragrance.

Even if you seep into the very marrow of my bones,
Something like that’s just not enough.

All colors fade to scent, scattering to the wind.
You will find no one in our world who think it strange.
I wish to know more about you, until you are deeper, deeper within me.

Today we shall cross the mountains of materialistic desires,
And we shall not see superficial dreams, nor be deluded.
Let us stain me, for your sake.
Aa.

All colors fade to scent, scattering to the wind.
You will find no one in our world who thinks it strange.
I wish to know more about you, until you are deeper, deeper within me.

Today we shall cross the mountains of materialistic desires,
And we shall not see superficial dreams, nor be deluded.
Stain me with you.
All colors fade to scent, scattering to the wind.
