A Single Red Leaf

Shuddering in the wind, it descends with a dancing flutter,
The single red leaf there beyond your shoulder.
If people could understand each other just by standing close,
Then the sadness would merely fade into the sky.

Showered in moonlight, the distant lilt of a flute, the O-Kagura taiko drums.
Now that I think back to it, how wonderful such commonplace happiness was.

Someday, let’s talk about the happiness of our meeting.
We’d known nothing but fleeting affection then.

Shuddering in the wind, it descends with a dancing flutter,
The single red leaf there beyond your shoulder.
If people could understand each other just by standing close,
Then the sadness would merely fade into the sky.

The gently advancing seasons are vague. The inviting shapes flickering in the flames.
We stumble, get lost, but picking our way through like this isn’t so bad.

Sending a wish to drift through the present,
It will only overlap with the fading prayers.

There are memories I can’t ever forget,
The crimson sakura foliage there beyond your shoulder.
So resilient, so fragile, they bury the earth, an eternal offering to our love.

Shuddering in the wind, it descends with a dancing flutter,
Coloring this night of darkness with crimson red.
I just want to stand close and be embraced in your arms
Until the sadness fades into the sky.

Notes:

  • Official releases also have a version with a human singer, but I have no idea who she is.  That version’s actually my favorite.
  • “O-Kagura” is a Shinto dance.

Hi! I was just looking back on the english lyrics and I was indeed hoping to use them for a cover. I will give all credit and disclaimer, but I would love to use the english lyrics They’re very beautiful and well translated as well. So may I?

Sure. It’s not my most confident one, but if you want to use the translation, go ahead~ Just credit and stuff =) Also, feel free to change the wording around so that it’s more…lyrics-like. Let me know when you finish so I can also post it here! 8D

      Good luck!
