bad egg+ tidbits: scenes 02

More!  There were a couple I really wanted to do…

As always, rough translations, no editing, the works.  The scans are from magazine scans I got over the years.  (Thanks pingu!)

bad egg+ tidbits: scenes 01

Gonna try to translate some of the scenes from the magazine for kicks!  …And for angst!  Translations are rough, as usual for these.

The scenes are going to come from Cool B magazines in the past year or so, but the scan quality varies between each pic.  Sorry about that.  …Also, some of these aren’t the most complete version of the scene for that CG, but I’m missing a couple relevant volumes, I think, and this is what I have.  Finally, many of these aren’t new scenes but I’m in a very bad egg+ mood right now…

bad egg+ tidbits: character pics

I forget if I ever posted the pics of the new guys, even though you can find them on the official website (and the twitter buttons are right in the side bar).  …I’ll throw in the old crew, too, because they’re pretty.

The pics are from cropped from Cool-B wallpapers.

bad egg+ tidbits: character info

Late night update on character info because why not lol.  This is going to be a bit messy because I’m working with a lot of blurbs and quotes, but I’ll try to keep relevant information together.  Note that translations are going to be rough.  They’re from magazines over the past few years, but mostly in 2018 and the recent January 2019 issue.

As stated in the last post, bad egg is going to focus on Gian and Bakshi facing the previous CR:5 capos with 4 new followers (though apparently with no routes for them) in their new gang, DG.  I’ll go through them in turn.  If you’re interested in voices, you can hear them here.  Just click on the respective thumbnail up top and click on any of the purple buttons.  The summaries for the returning characters are largely the same as before.

bad egg+tidbits: story info

Because I don’t trust myself to put something together in time for release, I’ll put together what I can, piecemeal.  So here, for now, is a refresher and some story info.

First, to clarify something.  Bad egg+ is a standalone side game.  At one point in time, it was being written as an expansion that branches from the main game, but now it is packaged as an independent, doesn’t-include-original-game, doesn’t-require-original-game-to-play game.  The demo is available on tennenouji’s website (though you have to watch out and set the Unicode language to Japanese to work, as usual).  (It’s the top left button with Gian for Windows users, and top right with Giulio for Mac users.)

Just about everyone is aware now about the voice actor change.  Here’s the cast list again:

There are also four additional characters (foils to the original four).

The game is separated into three parts, similar to Lucky Dog 1: Prison, Rockwell, Daivan.  The summaries below are roughly taken from the interview in the Jan. 2019 issue of Cool-B.

  • Prison: Madison has deteriorated and things are crueler than before, and that Very Important Letter never reached Gian and is MIA.  The days close in on Gian and the other captains, each with their own intentions.  The walls are closing in, and it takes all of Gian’s knowledge, skills, and connections to pull things through (as well as player choice).
  • Rockwell: Gian starts off this part trapped in a small, enclosed space.  Who?  What?  Why?  Where?  When?  How?  Gian must escape, but in the process, his good luck burns brighter and brighter … and based on player choice, may curdle into disastrous misfortune.
  • Daivan: Gian works along with the CR:5’s enemy, the GD and Bakshi.  Gian and Bakshi form their own gang, DG, bring in new allies, and set out to destroy.  The Chicago Outfit’s encroached on CR:5 territory, and Gian barges into the midst of this conflict to stamp out all his enemies.  Will he truly part ways with the CR:5?  Will he continue on with Bakshi and his new group?

Also mentioned is that Gian’s past and origins are finally brought to light, as well as the history of the organization.  There will be a new game system, so even if you make the same choices as in a previous playthrough, it might not result in the same outcome.

Additionally, there are Afterstories (epilogues) for all four captains that continue from the main game.

Also mentioned in the interview is that the DVD is dual-layered.  So much content.

There’s mention they’re working secretly on a new project.  No information yet.

Finally, the translation of the story from tennenouji’s bad egg+ official site.

Is jailbreak really possible now that Madison Penitentiary has become a merciless Wild Wild West? And even if they do succeed in springing the joint, only reality waits beyond the walls – a world of naught but backstabbing. With the loss of his gold ring, Gian’s brilliant good luck burns bright alongside his raging hatred, brighter and brighter until it even begins to warp fate itself and rewrite the balance of power between Mafia and gangs alike. With the living weapon Bakshi by his side, they continue devouring, devouring … and when everything’s been devoured, what is left?

Luchino update and bad egg demo out!

Just got the demo in the mail yesterday and it’s looking exciiitiiing…  I haven’t been this hyped for a game in years??

But first:

Disclaimer first… This is a pretty bad cliffie, but this day with Luchino is super long.  Should be two more sections before that wraps up.

I hope to do a summary of the info that’s revealed in the interview in the Cool B magazine (the one that releases info on BL and otome games and also included the demo) tomorrow.  There’s some interesting and revealing stuff including some direction on where the plot goes.  The demo is ~500mb large, but if you get a download that’s the zip straight from the DVD, it’s going to be 1.1gb for the PC and Mac versions.  (That took forever to unzip.)

Also, I’ve decided to nickname my computer the “Chronic Migraine.”  All hail OneDrive and GDrive and Dropbox.  Who knows when this translation would’ve been uploaded if it hadn’t been for them…  This hasn’t been a good tech season for me.

Happy Holidays!

Lucky dog 1 bad egg+ opening

This is my first attempt at uploading from my phone.

Today tennenouji released the opening to the upcoming (for real) bad egg+ expansion!

Edit: I didn’t mean to post that yet…

Luchino Ch 9 pt 1

Bit off more than I could chew with this chapter of Luchino’s route and ended up translating way more than I could update.  Hope you enjoy!

Lucky Dog 1 bad egg+ Release Date and other info

Tennenouji held good on their promise to release in 2018.  Release date is December 28, 2018.  Site can be found here.  This site contains all the information that’s appeared in Cool B magazine releases thus far, such as plot, CG, and new character details.

Additionally, preordering from the Tennenouji shop will net the original soundtrack, while preordering from either Stellaworth or Animate or Seagull will get preorder SS (along with a lot of other goods).

Sharp eyes will notice something else that’s different.  Unfortunately, due to the 8 years it took to release this expansion, the voice actors are going to all be different.  While this is incredibly sad – a huge part of the spirit of LD1 is the voice acting – I’m sure the new cast members will pour their heart and soul into this performance as well.  Just skimming the voice actors (I’m not familiar with VA pseudonyms), it seems that Giulio’s is the same.  Others can be easily searched with Google.  I am not 100% sure about these since I don’t usually search for these, but hopefully I have them right.

Another update is that this will run on Windows 7-10 and Mac OSX (post-10.9).  This means that since bad egg+ is an expansion of LD1, this will be the first time that LD1 (the main game, not the iOS port) will be playable on Mac PCs.

バクシー・クリステンセン【CV:広山和重】- Bakshi – Masuda Toshiki (he has a name this time!)
Ragtliffe – ??? (again??)
(no idea)
(no idea)
– Katou Masayuki

All in all, my overall feeling is one of “They actually did it!”  Congratulations, Tennenouji!

Lucky Dog 1 Announcement

On July 7, 2018 (if you’re on the west coast of the US), there was an official announcement regarding Lucky Dog 1.  This only pertains to the original PC version of the game.

Did that make you nervous?

An official English release of Lucky Dog 1 was announced by publisher MangaGamer at the 2018 AnimeExpo convention.  Here is the promotional site.

The translation here will be used for this release.  (If you saw the announcement live, perhaps some translations in the opening looked familiar in all its … lovely glory.)  I will be cooperating and working with MangaGamer on this release.

In terms of how this affects the site, nothing is expected to change.  To be fair, this doesn’t mean much in recent years, when my posting speed has slowed to a crawl (I’m working on the next day in Luchino’s route at the moment, I swear!!), but it also means that the site will be updated as usual.  Thanks, MG!

With that, until next time.
