Vocaloid translations

Here there be Vocaloid song translations.

Long story short, Vocaloids are voice synthesizers that use singing voices as a databank.  Their voices are usually taken from real people, usually singers or voice actors.  English Vocaloids exist, as do Spanish, Korean, and Chinese ones.

There are currently three generations of Vocaloids, each more advanced than the last.  The Vocaloids also periodically get upgrades.  For example, Miku has an Append, as do Len and Rin.  Appends provide a different tone to the standard voice that may make them sound more emotional.  Miku’s comes with options for, for example, Soft, Sweet, Dark, Vivid, Solid, and Light.  So basically, Miku Soft Append would sing in a softer tone than with just Miku’s original voice.

Vocaloids is a growing fandom that literally gives power to the fans.  A few anime have used them for their opening/endings, I think.  Also, they’re a favorite for Japanese AMVs.  Each song also comes with an original PV (promotional video) that is released first on Niconico and later Youtube.  Many composers, such as sasakure.uk, and artists who do covers for Vocaloid songs, such as VALSHE, have gone on to do their own songs.

Songwise, I think the most unique aspect of Vocaloids is that you can make them sing about whatever you want, including songs that would never have been published otherwise.  As a result, you get very unique songs.  An example would be mothy’s songs, which are a long series of stories that link together.

I’ve only listed the most popular Vocaloids here.  There are so many Vocaloids (and I’m not even talking about fanmade ones or UTAUloids) that I don’t see the point listing them all here.

My favorite ones are Len and maybe Gumi and Luka.  Definitely Len, though.  (Ironically, I have the least songs for him here because they’ve already all been done…)

Note:

I am open for suggestions on songs.  If you want a song translated or if you want a song re-translated for whatever reason, please contact me!  I will do my best to accommodate.

On the other hand, despite my best efforts, I can’t get my pages to display embedded videos from NicoNico.  Because of this, the only videos I can provide are from YouTube official accounts.  (I’d love to be able to post the songs myself, but the songs are copyrighted, of course, so…)  The links to the NicoNico videos will be provided in the spot where the videos usually are.  Also note that I think you need a NicoNico account to be able to view their videos…  Don’t worry, though.  It’s free.

As for people using the lyrics/translations, I don’t mind.  As blanket permission for websites, feel free to use the original Japanese, romaji, and translated lyrics elsewhere – so long as you link it back here and credit me.  For YouTube subs, though, please send me a note in the comments.

Also, if there are suggestions, advice and/or mistakes you want to point out, please feel free to drop a comment, too.

Thank you for such complete information. o_o

First, though, I really only do song translations upon request. This is going (quite) a bit further than that, but I will give the drama CDs a listen before I say anything further on that.

Second, is there a reason you commented under the “Vocaloid translations” page? I was under the impression that it was a Vocaloid song, which was why I was confused when I couldn’t find it.

Third, this is slash, right? Chances are, the CDs will be on aarin … right? ._. (I have to find them first before I can even consider working on them, lol.)

Good day. Sorry about that, I didin’t notice that it was only for vocaloid songs, haha my bad n_n. When I saw the word vocaloid and translation, it was like my whole fan girl body sparked, that I thought how wonderful if the drama cd’s that I’m drooling for months will be translated, so I thought of trying to plead for it. n_n

Hmm thinking about it, I didin’t see it in the aarinfantasy site.I downloaded it from other site. I don’t think this one is a slash but instead is an overwhelming yaoi.
You can easily find it by typing Animamundi drama cd’s on google( since I usually search at google) and it will appear at the top of the search. The uploader is tagayami from live journal. And I praise his/her for that.

I really wanted to include in my reply to you the details on how to find it but I’m kinda shy since I was not sure if you will notice it (makes me look like a little so pushy) If you have any other questions regarding these maybe I can help ( wow these sentence looks like I’m the one who was making the favor lol) I’m not forcing you into these if don’t want to ( I’m just hoping that angels whisper these to you).

Just noticing my request makes me so happy.Thank you very much and more powers on ur Life and works.

Sorry for the late response. I’ve listened to a bit of the CD dramas, and … well, I have to say that I can’t say I’ll put this on my projects list for the time being. Aside from being long, I’ve been playing around with translating from drama CDs with LD and I’ve found that … I’m sad to say, I need more practice with the whole “listening + typing + aural comprehension” part. It also doesn’t help that I have no context other than wiki summaries to help me with Animamundi. As such, I have to say I can’t translate this, despite you having requested it =( I’m really, really sorry.

For the time being, I’ll keep the CDs on hand and search for a the game…

Ah sorry for the late reply too.
it’s ok atleast you’re honest about it.
About the game there is one released in english by karin however the drama cd’s are not related to the plot of game itself (I think ?).
Anyways, I’m really glad having you translated the lucky dog game. It’s really awesome now that i can understand what’s going on the game.

Don’t worry I just tried my luck about it being translated. Thank very much!! More powers!!

Would you feel anything for translating some of masa’s songs? There are some translations out there on youTube, but most of them are machine translated. It’s mainly these three songs that I want translated:

I must warn you that the lyrics can be pretty explicit, though.

Sorry for bothering you and thank you for reading my request.

      Hey,

I checked the linked songs. Honestly, the songs kind of scare me, but the lyrics could be interesting to translate at some point in time. They’re a bit out of my comfort zone, but I’ll keep it in the back of my mind. I haven’t done lyrics translations in a while in general, either…

Thanks for leaving the request 🙂

I’ve heard of this producer before, if only because she (he?) did one of the IA the World songs in the Blue CD. I can’t say she’s a fave, but I can add this to the list (and move the IA Blue one up in priority). Feel free to request others by Ishifuro, though 😛 (The one in IA the World is titled “The Best Me”.)

Thanks for the head’s up! Out of curiosity, is this an authorized reprint (so I can know if I can put it on this site; if not, it’s OK. I linked it in the wikia)?

Also, were you the one who requested Eternal Muteness? That’s been uploaded too.

If you have time and want to, could you please translate:

“An Idiotic, Wild, Terribly Precious Journey” by HaTa?

I really love his songs, but I don’t find any translation anywhere.

I want more people to listen to his music and am willing to make some pvs for that. Problem is that I don’t understand japanese…
